Pricing
SEO pricing in York: a clear quote, before you commit.
We do not publish one-size-fits-all packages, because a café in Easingwold and a multi-site retailer do not need the same work. Here is what drives the cost, and how to get a figure for your business.
- Scope written down before you agree to anything
- Priced for the work your market needs
- Free review first, so the quote is based on evidence

What affects the price
Six things that decide the cost.
Any agency that quotes without asking about these is guessing.
How competitive your market is
Ranking a plumber in a market town is a different job from ranking a solicitor in a city.
Where you are starting from
A sound website needs less work than one with technical problems, thin content or a history of bad SEO.
How many services and places you cover
Each service and each location you want to be found for needs its own page and its own attention.
How much content needs creating
Pages, photographs and copy take time to do well. Using material you already have reduces the cost.
How quickly you want to move
The same work can be spread over months or concentrated. Faster costs more per month, not more overall.
Which channels are involved
SEO, a website, review management and paid advertising are priced separately and can be combined.
Ways to work with us
Three shapes the work can take.
One-off foundations
An audit and the fixes that follow: site structure, Google Business Profile, citations and tracking put right once. Often the best first step.
Ongoing growth
Monthly SEO, local visibility, content and review management, with reporting against calls, bookings and sales.
Projects
A new website, a rebrand or a migration, scoped and priced as a single piece of work.
Google Review Master can be tried on its own: there is a 14-day free trial.
Before you sign with anyone
Five questions to ask any SEO agency.
Including us.
Who will actually do the work?
You should be able to speak to them.
What will you do in the first month?
A specific answer is a good sign. “Optimise your site” is not one.
How will you report?
Look for enquiries and sales, not just rankings and traffic.
Can I see evidence?
Real clients you can look up. See our work.
What will you not do?
Guarantees, fake reviews and bought links should all be on the list. Ours is in the code of ethics.
Questions
Pricing: straight answers.
Something we have not covered? Ask us directly, a person will answer.
Why do you not list prices?
Because the honest answer depends on your market, your starting point and what you want to achieve. A fixed package would overcharge some businesses and under-serve others. We would rather look first and quote properly.
Do you charge for the review or the quote?
No. The review and the quote are both free.
Is advertising spend included in your fee?
No. Money spent on Google or Meta adverts goes to those platforms. Our fee covers planning, building and managing the campaigns.
Can we start small?
Yes. Many clients begin with a single piece of work, the foundations, an audit, a new page structure, and decide what to do next once they have seen the result.
How much should a small business budget for SEO?
In proportion to what a new customer is worth to you and how competitive your market is. For many small businesses, getting the foundations right once is a better first step than a monthly fee. See SEO for small businesses.
What do SEO agencies usually charge?
Published UK guides vary. Startups.co.uk puts monthly SEO at £400 to £1,500 with a freelancer and £1,200 to £4,000 with an agency; Expert Market gives £1,000 as an average retainer. We set out the sources and what explains the range in our guide to what SEO costs in the UK.
Is there a minimum contract?
The term and the notice period are written into your quote before you agree to anything, and we do not ask for a commitment before we have looked at your site. One-off projects have no ongoing term at all.
