Local SEO scorecard: how findable is your business?

Twelve honest questions about your Google profile, your reviews and your website. You score yourself, nothing is scanned, and at the end you know what to fix first.

  • Twelve questions, about two minutes
  • Your score and priorities appear as you answer
  • No email needed to see the result

Your Google Business Profile

Is your Google Business Profile claimed and verified?

01It is what puts you on the map. Without it you are invisible for most local searches.

Is your main category the most specific accurate one, with each service listed?

02Nothing else on the profile has more influence on which searches you appear for.

Are your opening hours right, and have you added photographs in the last three months?

03Wrong hours lose customers. Recent photographs show the business is alive.

Your reviews

Do you ask every customer for a review, with a direct link?

04The businesses with the most reviews are the ones that ask.

Have you had a new Google review in the last month?

05Customers look at how recent reviews are, not just how many.

Do you reply to every review, good and bad?

06The next customer reads your replies.

Your website

Does each service you sell have its own page?

07One general “services” page cannot rank for each thing you do.

Do your page titles say what you do and where?

08The title is what people read in the results, and one of the clearest signals of what a page is about.

On a phone, does your site load quickly, and can visitors call you in one tap?

09Most local searches are made on a phone, by people ready to act.

Consistency and measurement

Are your name, address and phone number identical on your website, your profile and the main directories?

10Conflicting details make search engines less sure the business is what it says.

Is Google Search Console set up, and do you look at it?

11It is free and shows the searches you already appear for.

Can you say how many calls and enquiries came from search last month?

12Without it, every marketing decision is a guess.

Questions

The scorecard: straight answers.

Something we have not covered? Ask us directly, a person will answer.

Is this an automated scan of my website?

No. Nothing is scanned or measured. The score is your own answers added up, two points for yes, one for partly, none for no.

Do I have to give my email address to see the result?

No. The score and your priorities appear as you answer. Sending your details is optional.

What happens if I send my answers?

A person looks at your actual profile and website, checks them against what you told us and replies with what to fix first.

What is a good score?

Eighteen or more means the foundations are in place. Most businesses we meet start somewhere in the middle.

I scored well but I am still not being found. Why?

The scorecard covers foundations. In a competitive market they are necessary but not sufficient; the next step is a proper review.
